ONE-DAY CAPACITY BUILDING ON QUALITY ASSURANCE OF SHEA BUTTER IN NIGER STATE.

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Minna Export Assistance Office (EAO) today 31st May, 2022 held a One-day Capacity Building Workshop on Quality Assurance of Shea Butter with the theme “Improving the Quality of Shea Butter in Niger State for Export” .
This was part of efforts by the Minna EAO to actualize the set goals of the One State One Product (OSOP) initiative of the Zero Oil Plan bearing in mind that Shea butter is one of the two priority products picked in Niger State under the stated initiative.

The program geared towards training and equipping Shea Butter producers, processors, marketers and exporters on the quality standard of Shea butter to meet the international market requirements.

Some of the dignitaries present at the event include The Honorable Commissioners , Niger State Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Investment & Niger State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, The Permanent Secretary, Niger State Ministry of Industry , Commerce and Investment (Chairman, SCEP ), Permanent Secretary, Niger State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, The Permanent Secretary Niger State Ministry of Forestry and Environment, The DG Niger State Commodity and Export Promotion Agency, The Controller Niger -Kogi Command of the Nigerian Customs Services, The Head, NAFDAC Minna, The State Coordinator, Standard Organization of Nigeria, President, NASPAN.

A total of 125 participants cut across , Shea butter producers, Marketers and Exporters from the 25 Local Government Areas in the State part of which were members of the organized private sector, cooperatives as well as potential shea butter exporters.

Two papers were presented at the workshop which includes;
I)Shea butter production ‘stages of the product development and its characteristics’ by Dr. Emmanuel Daniya of Crop Production department, Federal University of Technology, Minna and
ii) Export Trade House, its Importance as well as practical knowledge on Exports by a seasoned exporter Alhaji Jamilu Mohammed Goma, MD/CEO J. M Goma Nig. Ltd.

The training was a very successful one as participants left the Program well enlightened on the best Shea Butter production practices to meet international standard as well as benefits of the Export Trade House which to their businesses.
