[Niger state News] Police nab three cattle thieves in Niger

The police have arrested three suspected cattle thieves said to have been terrorising cattle owners and residents of the Fulani Camp , Maitumbi community in the Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State.
The suspects , Haruna Alhassan , 28; Saidu Adamu , 19; and Mohammed Iliyasu , 30; were trailed and apprehended by a team of policemen attached to the Maitumbi Division following a tip- off.
It was learnt that the suspects were arrested for serial cattle rustling in Maitumbi and its environs by police operatives .
Northern City News gathered on Tuesday that the suspects had attacked and dispossessed one Adamu Gambo of his 48 animals and took off to an unknown destination .
It also learnt that the suspects confessed to the police personnel during interrogation that they had carried out a series of cattle rustling in various parts of the state.
Further checks revealed that two of the suspects were not from the state.
One of the suspects , Iliyasu , expressed regrets over his action and begged the police to forgive him , saying he would never do it again .
“‌Heaven knows that I have made the wrong decision in my life by joining the gang of cattle rustlers . I knew that one day the police would arrest me . I pray that my family members will find a space in their hearts to forgive me . I am finished, ” he stated.
The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Uthman Umar , confirmed the incident , adding that the suspects had confessed to the crime .
He noted that they had been charged.
