The Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Minna EAO held a Practical Demonstration Exercise on the Production of High-quality Shea Butter for Export. The event took place at Shatta Community of Bosso LGA, Niger State on Thursday 11th August, 2022. This was part of effort by the EAO in actualizing the set goals of the One-State-One-Product (OSOP) initiative of the Zero Oil Plan.
In order to compliment the effort of the Women Cooperative towards achieving the target production capacity of 720 MT/Annum from the present 102 MT, the office presented a processing machine and a tarpaulin to ease their production process with a view to increasing the quantity and quality of the butter from their community.
Some of the dignitaries present at the event include; The Honorable Commissioner, Niger State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, The Permanent Secretary, Niger State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, The Parmanent Secretary, Niger State Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Investment (Chairman, SCEP ), The DG Niger State Commodity and Export Promotion Agency, The Director Agricultural Services, Niger State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, The Hon. Chairman Bosso LGA ably represented by The Director Social Welfare, The Community Head (Dagacin Shatta) and The President NASPAN.
A total of 40 participants cut across Women on Shea value chain from Phatalako, Philiki and Pwapa communities were trained followed by presentation of the Intervention equipment.
The Practical Demonstration Exercise was very successful one as participants left the Program well enlightened on the best practical Shea Butter production methods to meet international standards and also heartily appreciated the Intervention Equipment presented to them by the Council.
