The Nigerian Export Promotion Council Minna EAO in collaboration with Niger State Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Trade and Investment , today, 12th May 2022 resuscitated the State Committee on Export Promotion (SCEP) after ten years of dormancy .
Prior to the commencement of the meeting and due to the fact that majority of the participants were attending the meeting for the first time the Trade Promotion Advisor ; Mr Bello Ibrahim Noma, presented a Paper on current activities of NEPC, the Roles and Responsibilities of SCEP, Challenges faced and the way forward. The presentation captured the current phrase of the Council “Export for Survival” and emphasized the key components of the Slogan like the Zero – Oil Plan and OSOP.
The Permanent Secretary, Niger State Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Investment served as the Chairman of the meeting , members rubbed minds on ways to improve their performance as regards the effective implementation of OSOP in the State. Other members present at the meeting include; the State Controller CBN, Assistant Controller Nigerian Custom Service, Directors from the State Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce , DG Niger State, Chamber of Commerce and also representatives from Niger State Commodity and Export Promotion Agency, Access Bank, Guarantee Trust Bank , Raw Materials Research and Development Council, NAFDAC and SON among others.
Members pledged their support to NEPC and promised to remain actively contribute their own quarter towards the success of the Committee in the State. A five-man sub committee to be headed by the Trade Promotion Advisor with members from the State Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce, Niger State Chamber of Commerce and Niger State Comodity and Export Promotion Agency was constituted by the Chairman to come up with a draft of plans to be actualized by the committee before the next meeting.
