Fireboy DML Clarifies Why He Infrequently Feature Artists On His Songs

YBNL star boy, Fireboy DML uncovered why he once in a while teams up with artists on his melodies.

On the 7th of December, Fireboy DML engages in a Q & A session with fans on how his latest album, ‘Apollo” came to be.

One of his curious fans asked why he only featured three artists on the 17 tracks album and Fireboy explained that he is a selfish artist and rarely pictures other people when he is crafting his songs.

He admitted he knows collaboration is key and is working on more features.

“I’m a very selfish songwriter, I rarely picture other people in mind when i’m creating. collaboration is key tho, so it’s one of the things I’ve been working on with myself lately.”

He also shared the inspiration behind songs like “Afar” and “Champion”.

On what he inspired ‘Afar”, he credited it to his fans saying;

Honestly? it’s the issue most of my fans have with me. They feel like i’m too closed off, too introverted. i give all of myself through my music. i’m a musician and my primary job is to make music for you to be happy. personally, i think that’s enough. love me from afar.”

While he says “Champion” was inspired by Pheelz who challenged him to do other songs apart from love songs.

“I’d been writing and recording love songs for like two days straight. @Pheelzonthebeat got frustrated and dared me to write something of a different theme for once. i don’t like being dared so i snapped.”
